February Meeting Minutes
Respectfully Submitted by Jeff Dinius, Secretary

Mike Bond called the meeting to order.

Mike immediately circulated the list for people to sign up for monthly programs. Many of the dates were still open. Tom Barlow moved his program ahead a month so we had one for the Feb meeting.

Visitors

  • Bill Kestler from Nebraska returned as a visitor.
  • David Mack was also back for a second time. He is building an RV7.

Treasurer’s Report: Ernie reported the amount in the treasury and mentioned that several people had paid dues last meeting. There were still several outstanding. Details of the finances are available to paid members from Ernie Stevens

Young Eagles: Leslie was not present so there was no formal report. Mike had talked to Leslie and she will be at the next meeting to begin the planning for the next event. This will include a call for pilots as well as ground crew members.

Tool Committee: Dale reported a couple tool kits had been ordered. The kits will provide all the tools necessary to perform an annual inspection for a certified engine firewall forward. Contact Dale for kit content details and for a delivery date.

Announcements:

  • Ernie was cleaning out some old storage boxes used for chapter business when he came across some old patches for 515. They were circulated among the members present.

  • Dale received his new engine for the YAK 52. We were lead to believe there was quite a story behind the payment and delivery but Dale did not elaborate. Dale has the engine crate opened for anyone that wishes to drop by and have a look. He will be re-crating soon so get over to his hanger and have a look.

Evening Program: As mentioned earlier, Tom Barlow provided the program for this meeting. The topic was diesel aircraft engines with most information from Tom coming from a DVD ordered from DieselAir (dieselair.com). The information was a couple years old so the number of aircraft flying and some of the latest innovations were not covered. Many present made additional comments and provided some of the latest updates along with some factual numbers concerning diesel engines and kerosene and diesel fuel.
