July Meeting Minutes
Respectfully Submitted by Jeff Dinius, Secretary
The meeting was called to order by Mike Bond.
Lesley Thompson was in attendance. Lesley is the new Young Eagles Coordinator. Lesley asked questions about how YE events take place and how to organize an event.
Bill Cherry said 22 families (some with multiple children) names were collected at the FNL open house.
Lesley will arrange a single email request form and arrange an event later in the year.
Tentative dates for the YE event are Sept 15th with Sept 22nd as the weather date.
Mike Bond was going to verify Lesley is listed as the YE coordinator for the chapter.
Bill Cherry thanked the people that brought out airplanes for display at the FNL open house. Bill spent time manning the booth and watched the people looking at the aircraft.
Announcements:
-
Mike purchased the projector. It is the Sharpe unit recommended at the last meeting.
Dale is still investigating what tools would be appropriate for the chapter to purchase. The tools would be common ones used to perform annual inspections.
-
The August meeting has a presenter that needs to begin at 7 PM so the meeting will begin at 6:30 PM to allow the business to complete before 7.
-
Dale mentioned there were still 3 hangers available in the FNL hanger group. This is in the block of new hangers to be built. They will be completed sometime after the 1st of the year. If you are interested, contact Dale.
-
Bill Cherry announced the FNL pilots meeting will be held on Friday night (7/13/2007) and that he would attend (he is the VP). He said the pilots association is working on getting invited to the airport meetings. Dave Gordon holds regular meeting and they have evolved to “open to the public” meetings.
-
Water Valley owns some property at the southeast end of the airport. They want to add an FBO with hangers. This FBO would be aimed at the business jet and other corporate traffic.
-
July 11th half of the runway at FNL would be closed to seal the blacktop. July 17th the other half will be sealed so the runway will be closed again.
-
The chapter needs programs for the October and the December meetings.
