Welcome Visitors: - No Visitors

Treasurer's Report: Treasurers report was given by Ernie Stephens.

Old Business: April 22nd is Young Eagles Day and volunteers are needed. A sign up sheet is available. April 29th will be the rain date.

Joe Copley was not available for comments on his presentation to the Cub Scouts.

Tonight in Fort Collins, the City Council will hear the second reading of the Air Park Village annexation. This is the land where 3V5 is currently located.

Tom announced that tonight the Loveland City Council will hear a request to change the McWhinney Group zoning from E-Employment (commercial/industrial) to allow housing. This annexation proposal will allow housing right up to and surrounding the FAA critical zone for the approach end of RY 33 at FNL.

Tom informed us that the club trailer had the wheel bearings replaced and that the Chapter's website is up and running.

New Business: There was discussion about the June meeting which will take place June 6, 7:00 p.m. (note the different start time) at the Vintage Aero Museum, home of the Lafayette Foundation, at 18V (Platte Valley Airport east of Fort Lupton). This museum contains a comprehensive collection of World War I aviation artifacts. Researchers from the Smithsonian have done research there and two of the aircraft were used in the recent hit movie "The Aviator". Directions will be in the newsletter and it will take 45-60 minutes to get there by car form FNL. Carpooling is suggested or fly right in, parking for your aircraft is available. Admission will be $5.00. A motion was made by Larry Larkin for Chapter 515 to make a $100.00 donation to the museum. The motion was seconded by Randy Treadwell. The motion was carried by all the members present. Click on the link above for a map and directions.

Announcements: none

Program: After a short break, two DVD's were shown. The first was the Van's RV Story, and the second was on the new Glasair Sportsman. Both were very interesting to watch.

Meeting Adjourned: The meeting was adjourned around 9:20 p.m.

Spring Flying - Get out and enjoy!

Barracuda- Bill Hull
Thought you might be interested in the fate of an old 515 project. You may recall I built a Barracuda (modified) some years back. I have followed its progress through several owners and am still in touch with it. The airplane has been flown just under 600 hours that I know of and is still active. It was owned and flown by an active Navy F-14 pilot and a retired F-100 pilot. I have talked with both by telephone and both said they liked it. I found it to be only marginally stable in pitch, an undesirable feature for me. Both fighter pilots liked that feature. That reinforces my long-held belief that fighter pilots are bomber pilots with undiagnosed head injuries. I've been both. Bomber is better.
